PC Power Supplies (PSUs) in Qatar

A power supply is chosen from the graphics card and processor outwards: enough wattage with headroom, the connectors those parts need, a physical size your case accepts, and cables you can route tidily.

M1's completed builds include 600W to 850W units, some listed as 80+ Gold and one fully modular 750W model. The quote form asks for the wattage you need (550W up to 1200W or more), your CPU and GPU, ATX or SFX format, modularity, and whether you need modern GPU power support (ATX 3.x / 12V-2x6).

What to check before you choose a power supply

  • Wattage with headroom

Add up the graphics card's and processor's requirements and leave headroom for the rest of the system and for future upgrades. The graphics card's recommended PSU wattage is the best starting point.

  • Connectors

Make sure the PSU has the cables the parts need: 8-pin PCIe for many graphics cards, a 12VHPWR / 12V-2x6 cable for some newer high-end cards, and the CPU power connectors the motherboard requires.

  • Efficiency rating

80 PLUS ratings (Bronze, Gold and so on) describe efficiency at typical loads. Some of M1's completed builds list 80+ Gold units.

  • Modular cables and size

Modular or semi-modular PSUs let you connect only the cables you need, which helps cable management. Small cases may need an SFX unit instead of a standard ATX one.

What to tell M1 when you request Power Supplies pricing

These are the questions the quote form asks for this category. Most are optional and several offer a “not sure” answer, but the more you share, the closer the first quotation will be.

  • Required wattage

550W up to 1200W or more, or not sure. This is the one required answer; the graphics card's recommended PSU is the usual starting point.

  • Current CPU and GPU

Together they set the load the supply has to carry, with headroom.

  • PSU format

ATX or SFX. Small cases may only take SFX.

  • Modularity

Fully modular, semi-modular or no preference. More modular units are easier to keep tidy.

  • Modern GPU power support

ATX 3.x / 12V-2x6 for newer high-end cards that use that connector, or an 8-pin PCIe supply for cards that do not.
